The right height is the combined height of the base and mattress. The user should place their feet securely and stand without an unnecessarily deep movement.

Measure with the real user

Test a mock-up and check foot contact and knee position before setting the finished height.

Reduce hard edges

Neatly upholstered corners can soften accidental contact while the edge remains supportive enough to use.

Allow access

Keep at least one side fully accessible and account for any mobility or care equipment used in the room.
